Akatsuki M @RT02027212 5 days ago A wild, grotesque critique of Japanese society, depicting a dysfunctional family through its self-destruction and beyond in a deeply twisted way. I don't think it's a movie for everyone, especially considering how cheap the production looks at times (you can literally see the microphones appearing on camera), but the psychology and metaphors behind it are very strong and clever. Despite its clear intention to constantly showcase graphic violence, the movie is far from shallow or banal, I promise you. The short runtime helps a lot; it gets straight to the point. It's 84 minutes of pure weirdness and grossness, although it lacks Waters' wonderful sense of humor. If you're in the mood for something bizarre, however, this more than fits the bill.
