Much of the film is spent either reminding and recalling previous events in other films, or foreshadowing events that are due to happen in a future sequel. The sheer quantity of character threads fracture the film’s structure.

An incredibly messy, but fairly entertaining X-Men movie. The movie is disappointing for fans for the comics. But on its own, it's still decently watchable. Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse is pretty cool and fairly menacing, even if he looks too short and the makeup/voice effects could be better. The movie has some drawbacks with diminished special effects and less characterization for the new younger characters. Mystique doesn't have much to do in this movie. There's a lot going on with a lot of new characters, yet the plot and characters feel spread thin. It's nice to see Magneto be briefly happy with his new family before it's ripped away from him. Quicksilver is revealed to be Magneto's son, but there isn't a huge payoff to this revelation. The slow-mo Quicksilver rescue scene at the Xavier Mansion was awesome. Overall, it's entertaining, but too dense with too many characters and subplots to really let anything marinate into something impactful like the last two X-Men prequels.

X-Men: Apocalypse, a solid superhero movie with a lot of fun. The story is fine, but the CGI is pretty mediocre. The characters are fantastic, the best characters are Beast, Mystique, Cyclops, the dynamic duo between the X-Men is just so entertaining. The villain, Apocalypse is well played by Oscar Isaac. The action sequences are so good, especially the final battle. The pacing is fine, but flawed. But, overall, I give X-Men: Apocalypse a 7/10 or a 4/5 stars.
