Your Monster tells the story of the soft-spoken actor Laura Franco (Melissa Barrera), who is dumped by her longtime boyfriend (Edmund Donovan) while recovering from surgery and retreats to her childhood home to recover. With her future looking bleak, insult is added to injury when Laura discovers her ex is staging a musical that she helped him develop. But out of these gut-wrenching life changes emerges a monster (Tommy Dewey) with whom she finds a connection, encouraging Laura to follow her dreams, open her heart and fall in love with her inner rage.

Caroline Lindy’s feature debut is a droll, if uneven blend of comedy, romance, fantasy and horror that relies heavily on the off-the-charts chemistry between Barrera and Dewey, who manages to convince as a charismatic romantic lead.

A delightfully charming film. Melissa Barrera and Tommy Dewey are wonderful in their roles, and showcase excellent chemistry. I am unsure how I feel about the ending. It could be brilliant or disappointing. I will decide after my second viewing.

This was a cute love yourself beauty and the beast movie. The ending was a little confusing but after it sinks in you realize the beast is the part of yourself that gets angry at not being loved the right way.
