creative u @RT08453977 01/22/2025 I saw this film as a teenager back in 2009, so a couple of years after it came out, and it definitely left an impact on me. I remember even then thinking how awful this entire event was, and in no way did I think this film was advocating for that type of behavior. So imagine my surprise years later when I read that many people in that community thought this film was great for their cause, and thought of the director as an ally. I am glad nothing really graphic was shown, which some of the reviewers here seem to have a problem with. But films like these are very polarizing either way, so there really wasn't any way that this story could've been presented without upsetting somebody. Which is why I'm not surprised this received such a low score from the audience compared to the critics. Watching this was an...interesting experience, all in all I'd say it's worth a watch even though I haven't seen it in years. I remember thinking the cinematography and reenactments were great, and the music was eerie and set the mood perfectly. A very artsy film if you will, considering the subject matter. Definitely draw your own conclusions. I expected an exploration into the people involved, or a perspective on beastiality in the larger context of how we treat animals - or any kind of perspective on this situation, but there isn't anything going on here, and the cinematography is not impressive enough to account for that. To top it off, the film is intentionally vague - except there isn't any true mystery because it doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know. See more 10/23/2020 I love to talk about this film. You can tell a lot about a person by how they feel about this film. Just knowing that someone has seen the film says a lot about them. It approaches a very divisive subject (beastiality) from an amoral perspective. Its up to you, the viewer, to decide how you feel about the men's behavior. Is it wrong? In context of all of human behavior through all of civilization, how wrong is it? The documentary unfolds like a noir. Sean Kirby's cinematography is strikingly dark, digging into the loneliness and isolation of the characters. Robinson Devor and Charles Mudede adopt a non-linear storytelling, designed to challenge your preconceptions of the situation and spark inner dialogue.
