Aug 7, 2021 I went with 1 1/2 stars for this movie, I was torn on how many stars to put for this movie. I was torn on giving it one star or less. I ended up giving it 1 1/2 stars. What can I say about this movie, I might not watch this movie again. I don't think that I could reccomend it to others. I only seen this movie once, you have to take into account that this movie is over 100 years old. It is a silent black and white movie, I am used to these films but this one was kinda Idk what you can call it. I am a huge fan of Wizard of Oz so I was told about this movie and had to see it. I wanted to like this movie though, but it was making me fall asleep. Oh well, I thought that it would be a cool watch for any Wizard of Oz fan, but idk what i think of it 1 1/2 stars. See more Dec 31, 2009 The events seem to occur very randomly and characters are introduced and suddenly disappear with no explanation. Also, as the film progresses, you are more and more convinced there was no script involved. See more Oct 30, 2009 I would say this is the most successful of the Baum/MacDonald productions, although it's still rather slipshod (or "patchwork" if you will). The story goes all over the place, but manages to hold together pretty well. Maybe not quite as clever/fantastic as the other two, but an improvement in the storytelling department. See more Jul 17, 2009 Having now seen all of Baum's Oz films, I can say with certainty that this film is the best acted of any of them. Even the animal impersonators brought a spark of life and whimsy to their characters that few men in animal suits can approach! Fred Woodward's Woozy is funny, irritable, and ridiculous, just as he should be. As always, it's fascinating to see how Baum imagined Oz, but this is the best look we get at how he imagined the Oz celebrities. Unfortunately, we don't get to see Dorothy in this film, but we do get to see Ozma, briefly. She is just as he described her- beautiful, ethereal, almost floating above the earth with grace, but she is still full of joy and humour. You should go see this movie, definitely! See more Apr 26, 2008 Not a bad adaptation for 1914. I did not like the two new characters they replaced Dorothy with, or the new girls 'band of friends' were in the way of the scenes and totally unneeded.
