So glad that I went into the movie knowing very little about it because it made the surprises even more of a shock. A Cool Fish 2 has action, comedy, romance, social commentary and a by the end generous amount of ... can't complete that sentence, I don't want to give anything away. The movie is a surreal (not unreal), surreal as in bizarre, fantastic, and dreamlike at times, and what is so perfect is that the movie is linking this to a fascinating commentary or real life and the judgement we make about people. The movie may be wild at times, but it never strays from a focus on character growth and development, while the whole time making us face our own shortcomings as judge and jury of others. Don't let me make you think this movie is some cerebral, dry commentary, it is insane fun and action, an emotional roller coaster, AND top-notch social commentary. You are going to have fun! You may cry! But in the end, you are going to say, "Wow! That was way way more than I expected." If you have a little exposure to Chinese, Thai, Korean or Japanese entertainment industry, entertainment news and over-the-top moralizing by fans, you are going to find this movie even richer.
