The atmosphere Bertino creates in his near-singular location-set movie is dripping with dread; he films most scenes in such naturally dull light that it makes the outside world seem much further than a pull of a curtain away.

An underrated horror gem. Full of dread and supernatural intensity of a high and brutal form! Only two jumpscares at most I believe. This movie has heavy dependency on its dark world and overwhelming feeling of despair. You couldn't relax much once this movie really got started and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. Heavily Recommend for those experienced in horror who don't mind some gore. It's like hereditary, the witch and the Conjuring had a baby. Scare factor: 8/10.
