The world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways. FBI Agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of "The Corporation", a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed “The Beauty,” who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire --including unleashing his lethal enforcer, “The Assassin”. As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy, a desperate outsider, is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome and New York to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Caking on visceral splatter over an engaging takedown of modern beauty standards, Ryan Murphy's gonzo sci-fi horror is a disgustingly good time, even if its cultural commentary only goes skin deep.

The whole show looks so good – ironically, very conventionally cinematically beautiful – that it feels pointless to linger or ponder... This is face-lift TV, taut and tight and very smooth, even if you never really believe it’s real. Go to Full Review
Graeme Blundell The Australian 2d
Murphy again revels in the juxtaposition of the beautiful and the ugly and violent, and the series is shot with his distinguishing sense of aesthetic fascination. Go to Full Review

It might get tripped up by its own aspirations at time, but it’s one of Murphy’s better series. Go to Full Review

Heart-racing action sequences are followed by long passages of exposition, in which characters explain the plot so pedantically that viewers can easily scroll through social media and post comments while watching it . . . which is, I suppose, the point. Go to Full Review

...'The Beauty' isn't terribly boring, though it doesn't surprise or stimulate either, but above all, it fails to stand on its own as a series with substance that raises interesting and well-developed questions. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Shawna D 2h I love it!! Episode 5 just aired and is the best so far See more Sandra B @Sassypaulista 9h Terrible show. For me it's unwatchable! The sex scenes are so unnecessary and close to disgusting. See more umut @umutdsn 1d It was amazing, perfect. I loved The Substance, but The Beauty better. The best series I’ve watched so far. See more Silver S @AnneBoleyn9 1d The Beauty is yet another attempt at a stab at a return to relevance by director Ryan Murphy. When I first heard about the show, I decided to give a try, due to its intriguing concept and also what appeared to be a stellar cast. For me this TV series falls flat. It is trying too much to be the film the Substance, which was a great movie, and pulls it off badly. The characters seem wooden and Ashton Kutcher as the big baddie just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Also this show has no redeeming qualities that I can see. I would highly recommend skipping it altogether. Its not worth the time. See more Jeronimo A @partzito 2d Woke crap. It was good up until the black guy starts criticizing white people See more Taj M 4d To say this is a cheap knock-off of The Substance is an insult to a fantastic movie. Ryan Murphy, once again, proves that he cannot be trusted telling an original story. See more Read all reviews
