Based on John le Carré's novel of the same name, "The Night Manager" is a crime drama following the work of former British soldier Jonathan Pine. Hotel night porter Pine is contacted by an intelligence operative who asks for his assistance to spy on international businessman Richard Roper. The entrepreneur is believed to have forged a criminal alliance between the secret arms trade and the intelligence community, prompting the need for surveillance. Pine attempts to infiltrate Roper's inner circle by becoming a felon himself, while keeping his mission a secret from his hotel colleagues and girlfriend.

Marking a belated but welcome return for Tom Hiddleston's tortured spy, The Night Manager's second season is a glamorous and haunted continuation that only gets better as it goes.

It hits all the right beats, from knotty departmental drama to basic cable erotica, but it does so without much friction or sense of fun. Go to Full Review

The Night Manager season two is a show of two halves, cleaved by a big twist at the end of the third episode which changes the energy of the series. If you find the first few chapters a little dulled, just wait until that reveal. Go to Full Review

The spy game heats up with Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman back in action and a new villain (Diego Calva) to spark political and sexual intrigue. That three-way dance with Hiddleston, Calva and Camila Morrone generates enough sizzle to singe your screen Go to Full Review

It is another six episodes of superb performances, meticulous spycraft, a densely packed plot, and a lot of double-crosses. But and I say this with genuine respect for the series as a piece of television craft, it is also a bit of a slog. Go to Full Review

…The Night Manager 2 isn’t as bad as everyone warned me, but isn’t a patch on the original…with Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman seemingly absent from the new venture, there’s something of a yawning gap where two huge stars used to be… Go to Full Review

Albeit repetitive, Tom Hiddleston is a sight for sore eyes in this Prime Video espionage thriller. Go to Full Review

Margaret C @MargieC 1h Love this show! Can’t wait for season 3! See more Merrin S @MerrinS 2h The political intrigue is promising. Hiddleston and Laurie have charisma to burn. Diego Calva is a find, Morrone has good moments, and the 3-way dance scene is instantly iconic. But downgrading Teddy midway through the season is a terrible mistake, and Olivia Colman should sue them for wrongful... everything. Burr is a phenomenal character, and deserved so much better. This season feels like the film version of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, where they killed off the entire team in the first few minutes just so that Tom Cruise could turn an ensemble TV story into a solo action franchise. In this case, they've turned one of the smartest writers in the world into just another excuse for a motorcycle chase. There's at least one more season on the way, but I'm out. See more Kevin P @Tirnog 7h Ropey ending! Tried to be overly clever... but actually not. They tried too hard and they failed. Can't be bothered to wait for series 3. Another brilliant BBC franchise ruined. See more dave b 12h Way too convoluted. Ridiculous scenes where either Roper or Pine could kill the other—and then they don't. Don't talk, just shoot. Even more ridiculous is Angela showing all her cards BEFORE the game is over. Why did Roper shoot his 3 dogs? Am done with this series. See more A A. @beesk 1d I love this show. The characters really draw you in. It helps that the cast is phenomenal. Great storylines, acting, scenery, everything. See more Keith E @Keubanks63 1d This is currently my favorite show. Season one was pitch perfect. Season two is more than promising. Tom Hiddleston is as compelling as always. He could easily have played James Bond. This season departs from LeCarre's book, which is fine. Much credit goes to the writers who found a way to continue the story. There is a time jump from season one - not quite the ten years it took to bring season two to the screen, but enough to justify an older cast. If you aren't hooked by the third episode you may be dead. See more Read all reviews
