What to Know

Critics Consensus

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Wonder Man, turning in a sly performance alongside an equally wonderful Ben Kingsley in this low-stakes superhero fare that boasts high-hearted personal drama as its winning factor.

Audience Says

Wonder Man finds its alchemy in its leading men, who deliver a refreshingly human story with greater emotional power than straight up kicks -- and it’s all the stronger for it.

A satire about struggling actors and the ludicrous Hollywood inequality they’re trying to get around doesn’t sound like a particularly original idea, but when you plug it into the dour world of Marvel superheroes it’s actually a welcome change of pace. Go to Full Review

The actors’ chemistry and undeniable bromance is a great reason to watch, but this is also an entertaining and low-stakes story that doesn’t require mass MCU viewing or knowledge to fully enjoy. Go to Full Review
Peter Travers The Travers Take 6d
3/4
It’s a different kind of Marvel epic. Special effects take a backseat to laughs as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley spoof egomaniac actors who learn it’s better to stop chasing fame and be in it for the love of the game. Go to Full Review

The heart of this series really rests in the friendship between these two lead characters, and Yahya Abdul Mateen and Ben Kingsley are well-suited at keeping you invested. Go to Full Review

8.5/10
This series does not focus on superpowers or action. Instead, it is centered on passion, creativity, empowerment, and a love for acting, all presented through a satirical lens. Go to Full Review

Apart from a few unwarranted theatrics, Wonder Man is void of anything Marvel-like, which ultimately becomes its greatest and most welcome trait. Go to Full Review

Makenna E @Itskenna 57m Phenomenal cast and a very exciting, grounding direction for Marvel See more John S @JDiz2026 2h I’m not even a Comic book movie type of guy and I absolutely loved this series. I really hope they come out with a season 2 See more Xavier M. @Xaycineverse 3h I really enjoyed it! The only thing I wish Marvel would do when introducing these new characters is go back to the backstory of how they gained their powers or show the moment they discovered them. I’m sure we will eventually see Wonder Man in Doomsday or Secret Wars, but I also feel like this character deserves a bit more than what we got. Even if Marvel doesn't want to do a second season, just two or three more episodes could have properly introduced him to the MCU by showing his origin on screen instead of just explaining it through dialogue. See more Duke C. @LightsCameraDuke 5h INCREDIBLE! Symmetry and poetic function waiting to explode out of the screen. This deserves its own feature length film! See more Andre g @BigDre3K 6h Not at all what I was anticipating!! The format, layout and whole vibe of this show is everything that Marvel is expected to be. While lately the format has become uber predictable, the fresh perspective and vibe are whole heartedly welcomed and enjoyed!! See more C W @That.Guy 6h If you're tired of the familiar superhero movie tropes, action sequences, and origin stories, Wonderman may be the breath of fresh air that you need. In addition to a compelling human story, the cinematography is beautiful, and the 30 minute episodes are easy to binge. I'm honestly surprised at the amount of story they cram into 30 minutes, while still avoiding a feeling of being rushed. The pacing, carefully written dialog, and the economy-of-story are amazing. Episodes felt like a well-paced hour instead of 30 minutes. But they still feel leisurely at times, allowing moments of silence and time for character development. The soundtrack is great, too. There aren't any supervillains, high-tech super-gadgets, or annoying sidekicks. Instead, you get a drama about a man dealing with his own emotions, and a new acquaintance that becomes his best friend. It's a fun ride, and I highly recommend it. See more Read all reviews
